Conus (Conasprella) sarasotaensis (Petuch, 1994)
Description (2): Shell of average size for subgenus, stocky, broad across shoul-der, with wide, moderately-high, py-ramidal spire; shoulder sharply-edged, carinated; body whorl smooth and polished, with 10-12 shallowly-impressed, thin spiral sulci; aperture narrow, widening slightly anteriorly; color pattern (when preserved, as on holotype) composed of 40-45 rows of closely-packed elongated dots.
Holotype: UF66425, Length 25 mm.
Type Locality: Pinecrest Beds Fauna, from Petuch Unit 4, APAC pit, Sarasota, Sarasota County.
Remarks: Conus sarasotaensis is most similar, particularly in shape, to C. susanae n. sp. (Plate 94, Figure J) from Petuch Unit 3, but differs in being wider across the shoulder, in having a smooth shell that lacks numerous heavy sulci on the body
